About Us
Our Story
GPI Corporation (Pty) Ltd (GPIC) was set
up in response to customers' crying need
for a new and more effective approach to
arrest the dramatic failure of projects which
presents in many forms:
1. poor cost
estimates, 2. over schedule,
3. poor quality,
4. white elephants.
Project failures
necessarily lead to wastage of effort and
scarce resources, making society poorer.
The source of trouble is a lack of focus on
systematic project development and a more
project design process. Our mission is to
change all this, to make project
performance more predictable and
controllable. To do this we take a life-cycle
perspective bearing in mind that the motive
behind each project is to achieve stated
organisational goals inspired derived from
strategy and mission. our focus is project
development rather than project
management. The aim of our approach is to
help client organisations realise
management excellence with respect to
project innovation, productivity, quality, and
sustainability
Innovation is the source of an organisation's long-term viability. However it carries many risks. This is because breakthrough innovation opportunities are rare. They require leadership. Breakthrough innovation opportunities in the short term may account for less than 5%, and in the long term another 15% or so, of all transformational change opportunities. Our role is to save clients the time and effort involved in identifying such rare opportunities bearing in mind that an organisation's current strategic posture and mission consciousness constrains its ability to exploit such innovation opportunities
Productivity is the reason organisations proceed to execute capex and opex decisions and often without a proper consideration of where the greatest prospects for improvement lie. This is where we come in – to help client organisations appraise and identify opportunities for doing more with less – the essence of the productivity game. What is more, we help clients develop high impact productivity improvement projects within available budgets. Where capital projects are involved, we are well placed to source required funding via our finance origination process.
Quality is the foundation for both innovation and productivity improvements. Quality means “that which performs as intended by the customer without fail and under all circumstances.” Poor quality leads to waste and high costs. Our role is to help identify where such costs lie, give an estimate of their size and develop projects to eliminate those costs. As is often the case, quality improvement projects often lead to innovation and productivity improvement opportunities. Therefore we help put into place Quality Management Systems to realise such opportunities
Sustainability takes into account the environmental impact of what organisations do. Its concern is to avoid ignorance of the interests of future generations. The heart of sustainability is resources. Therefore our role is to ensure that our customers ensure their innovation, productivity, and quality improvement campaigns help drive the sustainability agenda to create products and services that can pass the test of time. We are especially keen to provide continuous social and economic development facilitation services for projects from initiation to revenue operations sustainability.
